So, I now have an Etsy store. At the moment, all I have up are a few cards I made a while back from a few of my photos.

I would have some of my jewelery up, but there's a door propped up in front of the cabinet where I put that particular box. (My dad is redoing parts of the house, thus there's literally a door between me and the cabinet.)

So, Valentine's day is on Sunday... and it's Friday. Well, I'm doing my token Valen-journal-tine entry today. tada!

First, I'd like to start the festivities with my grand debut of the "I don't have a valentine! Yay for single me!" dance/song. You'll have to imagine me dancing, of course, but it's an upbeat techno-celtic sort of song that has its origins in the crazy maelstrom that is my mind.

The lyrics go something like this:


I don't have a valentine! Yay! Yay!

No sappy guy to pressure me!
No cages here! I'm free! I'm free!

and this is about the point where one of the few people reading this turns into a psychologist and says, "So, Katie, about those commitment issues..."

sorry, psych person. commitment issues and lack of boyfriend aside, I actually love valentines' day. There's candy! Any holiday with candy is a good one to me! I can't wait for Monday... because that's when I'll be able to afford restocking my stash.

Ok, so I've kind of been missing from all of my art places for most of last year... what can I say? I'm still in school and I don't have as much time to do things as I'd like.

I also spent most of last July in Peru and Chile, which was amazing, but I was sick for two weeks when I got home because my allergies do not like Santiago smog. Honestly, I was coughing so much I'm surprised they let me back into the USA. (I held my breath going through customs... stupid swine flu awareness posters)

So, I have a huge backlog of pictures from that trip... and then when I could finally breathe again, I ended up traveling more with my Mom on her Parish Nurse Instructor adventures. Yet again: More pictures!!!

On top of all that, our laundry room has flooded three times. I'm allergic to mold. (and taking weekly allergy shots that hurt worse than I would imagine Jamanji mosquitoes do) The last flood and the mold were bad enough that my Dad is having to redo most of the floor and possibly one of the interior walls.

And then there's the whole "we live in the middle of nowhere and our internet is a wireless signal that gets bounced through at least three counties before it gets to us" saga... we finally seem to have a stable connection now, since the internet people know we exist now.

Oh! and my laptop crashed in November. as in *poik!* and it's dead. so fortunately almost everything was recovered... but I now have a new laptop! and it's a MacBook Pro. (and of course right after I get the new one my old one is fixed... so I have it for my old windows-only programs.)

So yeah... busy, busy year, and that's just the parts I'm willing to talk about on the internet.

Q: So, what does all of this long "why my life is utter chaos and weirdness" rant mean to anyone reading this?

A: That Katie has a weird, chaotic life and a huge backlog of cool pictures to post on deviantART. Katie's plan is to upload her pictures a few at a time (say, three or four a day), because she knows that her friends here probably don't want to be flooded with her deviations all at once.

So, that's about it. and I'm *hopefully* going to update my journal every now and then now. (as I am taking baby steps to actually having a working blog... my current one is sadly neglected because I don't know what to do with it, and no one reads it anyway)

Today I finally finish uploading all of the deviantART worthy photos I already had on my computer! And even better than that, I've been here a grand total of three days...

*cue drum roll!*

and already I've hit 100 page views! My first milestone.

So... here I am on deviantART...

I'm still trying to figure things out.

But it's amazing how many art photos I've taken that I don't have to do much editing on to upload! and that's quite encouraging!
